The Sonata Dolorosa has been a passion project of mine for over a year and a half. I began initial work on it in December 2022--just another hobby project, I thought. Little did I know that this would take me on a journey that has completely altered the direction of my career! This piece has opened many doors for me already as a composer, and I hope that it may open more in the future. In my mind, it tells the story of the pandemic and the lockdowns--the anxiety, the isolation, the little glimmers of false hope, and the depression I had to fight in the midst of it.
