In Twilight for String Quartet (Digital PDF)
In this piece for string quartet, I really wanted to capture the experience of staring off over a lake as the sun sets, twilight falls, and the sky transfers from orange to deep blue, to black. For me, the magical twilight is also a time of self-reflection, internal processing, and emotional reckoning with the events of the day. Oftentimes, it is the period in which the negative feelings and life challenges like loneliness, hopelessness, and anger that have been suppressed and ignored up to this point now beg for explanation, reflection, and resolution, coming to the foreground in the twilight, preventing rest until they are dealt with.
Instrumentation: 2 Violins, Viola, Cello
Duration: ~8’
Difficulty: Advanced
